@Greg I would guess that's possible. I use infinite scroll (no pagination) with the site, so I'm not sure exactly what kind of page navigation widgets would be helpful. Some more details might be useful here!
This is a good idea. I would like to see at least two subforums, one for north america (Mexico, US, CAN), and one for European. Then tags should go with country, states, town.
But imo, while tag-creation are open to everyone, it looks hard to get something good formatted on the long run, except if all TMDer follow the rules ;)
That's correct, the data from the old site is intact, but there's some tech problems stopping me from getting it back up in a readable format (I spent quite a bit of time on it last night actually). The short of it is that the old site used 10 year old software that is no longer supported by up-to-date versions of PHP, MySQL, etc.
I definitely plan on getting it back up and available, but I don't know when I'm going to be able to do it.
Thanks for your hard work. Maybe I'll call Steve and see if he wants to get his hands dirty with this business again!
Unfortunately this feature only works per browser. It caches where you are and can take you there when you go to the thread. A small pop-up appears in the bottom right hand corner to take you to the last unread post, but if you read on your phone and then open it up at home, it doesnt pass the information along. Some forums do this by building in a database system, but it does slow down the site a bit as it has to check against the database every time you open a thread.
This must be where I was getting confused then, because I often read on my phone then on my computer then on my phone again. The old forums synced across both irrc, so I never had this problem before, leading me to think it was broken here.
There is a built-in search function at www.themanadrain.com/search - but it didn't seem to be working so I disabled the link to it. Hopefully it's just a bug that will get fixed with the next release to the forum software - if not then maybe we can build something custom
Looks like you were right, @Gumgod! you can stop the unread notification at the board level by clicking Ignore - that's going to be super useful!
so this thread will just be about the ability to unfollow at the thread level - because we can already do it with boards
I'm not sure this works as expected. I still received a 1 next to the inbox for a post in the tournaments section (that I have ignored), but when I went to inbox, no threads were there. Meaning that I still had a 1 to clear, and I had to go to recent to clear it.
Edit: Never mind it works. It was only that first post after I turned the notifications off that was an oddity. I have not gotten any new notifications for the sections I've ignored.
