Eternal masters roughly one month away, where's the hype (and further spoilers)?
-
@SamuelA I couldn't believe what I was seeing when I first saw it spoiled! This will change the 93/94 landscape forever.
-
@Aaron-Patten weren't most events playing with that special errata anyway tho? I guess this at least makes it required across the board...
-
@themonadnomad I follow the Old School M:tG rules and they did not use an errata for it. It's still a good card without the errata. In fact I had finally gotten comfortable with it as a power level errata of sorts. I guess it's time to bust out the Relic Barriers and Icy Manipulators.

Thank you, Honden of Life's Web, for the Forbidden Orchard tokens!

I am absolutely flabbergasted that the two most oppressively over priced cards on MTGO were not included in this set. There is zero reason those cards should be as ridiculously priced as to be more expensive than all the Power 9. Now, their prices will go up even higher. Dumb move on WotC's part. But then again, I shouldn't be too surprised by their ineptitude.
-
@enderfall what two cards are you talking about?
-
-
@H. misdirection is only 85 dollars but thats still really pricey for a card that dosnt see much play, unless there is something im missing lol
-
Wait, so they cut a white mythic slot?
-
@enderfall This hobby's expensive, yo.
-
Am I missing something? Overall, I feel pretty unimpressed...
-
@letseeker maybe he meant something else, but I know that Port and Misdirection are real high.
-
This set was always going to be unimpressive because of the reserved list. There's just too many cards that we want to see reprints of that they won't let themselves reprint.
That said, it's even less impressive than it could have been. Where's Misdirection and Rishadan Port? Where's Mana Drain? Where are the Portal tutors? There's a bunch of really obvious includes that they left out. The only reasonable explanation for it I can think of is they wanted to save them for a second set down the line.
-
Leaving Misdirection out is an obvious show of how little they consider MTGO when doing these things. It was in Conspiracy (another don't care about MTGO set) which tanked the paper price of the card so there is no need to reprint in paper.
Port makes no sense to leave off though. It is higher than it should be in both places.
The only rationale I can come up with for that one is they didn't build the set to support what we think of as Eternal Formats, it was made to help Commander and Cube players. Who puts Rishadan Port in an EDH deck?
-
@wfain yet it was marketed for the eternal formats
-
@wfain my mistake, in the announcment they did say it was for edh, cube, legacy, and vintage so that may be the reason

85 because of the threat it would be in EMA. I haven't checked, but I doubt they are 85 right now just 2 hours after full spoiler. That card is going back to 110 and likely higher now.

Actually, a LOT of people. Port is a staple in Duel Commander, it made more than 100 Top 8s this year alone. Makes no sense to leave it out.
Also I still can't believe they really didn't print P3K expensive cards... this is dumb.
-
@mickey.nobilis I own (or used to own in the case of Port since it was silly to not sell something I never use at 160 tickets) both cards. I could care less about their prices for me personally. I just want other people to have reasonable access to these cards so that MTGO can be more accessible.

No drain, berserk, imperial recruiter, or land tax. Im a lil sad.
