About a decade ago me and a group friends decided to play Type 1 (Vintage) during invasion block (2001), we played it for a month or two back then. Last year during the corona lockdown I was talking to one of them over discord and we eventually started talking about this format once again, after talking about it several times we ended up making some decks as we remembered them and started playing a few games. Eventually I came up with the idea of testing these decks in something resembling a tournament format.

I thought some members of this community might find the results interesting, you can see them here.

We recognize that there are a few problems with our method:

      • There is only one of each deck.

      • We shift decks rather rapidly, thus we might not play them to their maximum potential.

There are probably other issues as well, so take the results with a grain of salt and enjoy! 🙂

Pre-edit: Oh and a minor caveat, despite googling away for hours I've been unable to determine exactly when Illusionary mask got the errata we are using. The best i've been able to find is "Winter 2001". We just sort-of agreed that the illusionary mask + phyrexian dreadnought should work during december 2001 right before fact or fiction got restricted.
