8/27 – Team Serious Open Results

  • We had a disappointing and surprisingly low turnout of 7 on Saturday for Vintage in Sandusky, Ohio, but the group was spirited so it ended up being a great, fun day of Vintage anyway. (For players who missed, it was a perfect storm of car trouble, illnesses, weddings, and other engagements.) Conspiracy 2 was legal and players are starting to get into the mindset of testing for Eternal Weekend, also in Ohio in a couple of months.

With only 7, we still played four rounds and had a neat cut at the end to top three.

Thanks to everyone who came out! The next Ohio event is 9/10 in Columbus and the next Sandusky event is 10/15.

  • There were a few people who have asked about the Belcher list I played:

    Nat Moes
    RGu Belcher

    4 Goblin Charbelcher
    4 Empty the Warrens
    1 Wheel of Fortune
    1 Memory Jar
    1 Tinker
    1 Timetwister
    4 Gitaxian Probe
    4 Manamorphose
    3 Goblin Welder
    4 Elvish Spirit Guide
    4 Simian Spirit Guide
    4 Chrome Mox
    4 Tinder Wall
    4 Rite of Flame
    4 Desperate Ritual
    1 Pyretic Ritual
    1 Channel
    1 Mox Emerald
    1 Mox Ruby
    1 Mox Sapphire
    1 Mox Jet
    1 Mox Pearl
    1 Black Lotus
    1 Mana Crypt
    1 Lion's Eye Diamond
    1 Lotus Petal
    1 Sol Ring
    1 Mana Vault

    Sideboard
    4 Leyline of Anticipation
    4 Serum Powder
    3 Storm Entity
    3 Xantid Swarm
    1 Goblin Welder

The only cards I boarded in were Leylines and Serum Powders versus Shops on the draw and Goblin Welder against everybody. The Leylines haven't been great for me, so I have some more thinking to do in that realm. I lost to Steve Sasala and Kevin Cron. Interestingly, all but one of my games I won with Belcher (rather than Empty the Warrens), and Goblin Welder was awesome all day.

  • As all the Serious Opens go, it was great. Wish we had some more people. Thanks to @GrandpaBelcher for organizing these every time. I look forward to the next couple of these to test for Champs.
