This one made me laugh.
Deck is called UBG. Definitely no Black or Green. At least they got one out of three!
@Hydra the idea that morality is defined by rules is rediculous. Laws or rules of course can be immoral. Just because something is permitted by laws (whether the laws of a game or otherwise) does not make them moral. The rules about lying to judges or tricking an opponent into believing something about the game surely weren't always against the rules. Situations came up that then caused rules to be made. That didn't mean that they were ethically or morally justifiable before the rules got established.
You also couch your terms in absolutist terms which is why I got so upset with you earlier. You say there is no possible grey area as long as rules aren't broken. That just isn't true. Plenty of people find moral grey area with this. Maybe people like me are wrong but you shouldn't use absolute statements because they are simply your opinion. Just like what I think is simply my opinion
@Hydra and yes I have taken this personally. I was the first to respond to the poll and the first comment (no deleted) was telling me I clearly had no friends online or in real life because I was against conversing. We can disagree without putting down the other side. I felt like your post was completely dismissive of anyone who disagreed with you. Sorry if I mistook what you were saying.
@Hydra sports teams have a responsibility to try and win. Sometimes they show it by competing their best and sometimes they rest players to get a higher draft pick or to get players rested for the playoffs. Either way it is focusing on maximizing their future success. Conceding in magic is nothing like this. Sports teams can still win without playing their best players. It is impossible to win when you conceed. You don't get more prepared for your next match when you conceed and you don't earn better prizes. They have nothing to do with each other.
@BobbyVictory yes it does through off the metagame numbers. However, since this happens all the time in Magic everywhere it doesn't through it off anymore then all magic top 8 numbers are thrown off. Which is to say it doesn't really matter because it is the best data we have for this and for all magic. And in this case I believe Atog Lord was also on shops though I could be wrong about that.
@Hydra Thanks for saying everyone who disagrees with you is stupid, without a valid point and just trying to be a jerk. I've tried hard to communicate my minority point of view on the topic while still seeing the validity of other views. Stop the personal attacks. When it comes to morality of actions it isn't shocking that people disagree on something. Just because you can't see the validity of another opinion doesn't make it invalid. Same goes for my view of your opinion. Just because I don't understand it doesn't make it invalid.
I'm finding this thread has hit its useful limits. I find it morally unjustifiable to give someone a free win into the top 8 when it keeps someone else out who actually did enough to deserve it. Brian Kelly feels like it is morally unjustifiable to play someone and ruin their top 8 chance when you personally have nothing to play for or gain from it. They are both valid but no ones mind is being changed.
@Khahan Thanks for your post. I completely agree. I would obviously conceed in a daily where it I was 1-2 and my opponent is 2-1. All I am doing is helping someone reach payout without affecting anyone else. Like you said there is a time and a place for it. However, I personally would never do it in a tournament that cuts to top 8. I actually find it very problematic when there is a concession to a friend or teammate because it assumes that there will be a reciprocal in the future should be situation be reversed. That at least isn't the case with a stranger.
I have only been following and playing vintage for a couple of years and fish has been no good since then which leads me to this question. What is a fish deck? I assumed it was a blue based deck with some merfolk but that didn't seem to be the case based on your decklist. I've picked up most of the names for things but this one has alluded me. Thanks!
@kravkenov I do hope we get them but we don't really need the top 8. 4 shop decks. Some will have tangle wire some won't. 3 Jeskai Mentor. One paradoxical outcome with I think 3 or 4 mentors. You can look at any of the past events on mtgo and see the exact same decks. We are in a 2.5 deck format. The only real question marks are tangle wires or not and by force vs ingot chewer.
@Smmenen Maybe I am missing something but it seems like the top 8 numbers in totality since the changes have been made are absurdly good for mentor and shops. Personally I was glad that probe got hit and I wasn't a huge fan of gush because I like to be stupid with wastelands but they definitely have not made the two best decks any less good. I have played a few different decks lately and my general thought against paradoxical outcome regardless of my deck is yay! Where when I am up against mentor it is shit!
It is click all the spells you want to exile and then hit ok. It is bugged which is why you can't tell which spells you have selected. It should highlight each card you have selected. If enough of us complain about it then hopefully they will fix it.
