@Smmenen Great, just grab a copy ! Thank you ;)
RE: How did you start playing Vintage?
I'm still "starting to play Vintage".
I started to play "Magic" with my first booster from Revised, but I can't really remember the year. I was a kid, this is the only thing I'm sure about and also not knowing about anything, like restriction of maximum 4 color of the same cards in a deck. I then stopped magic for financial and others "kids" reasons...
Few years (10 years ?) later, I (re)meet an old magic friends and he brought me to the local MTG association. It was fun, but the guys there were almost only playing draft (a thing I still don't like today). So I started Standard with Affinity, then 1.x with "Red deck wins" and finally 1.5 with a wired Aggro zoo.
In vintage (finally), it mostly because one card : Doomsday. It has no real viable deck in other format and since I already have Lotus, Recall and Mox Sapphire, there isn't much to buy for a complete Doomsday deck. If TO accept proxies, I usually play Bomberman, but it's another storie :)
I also don't (yet) play on MTGO, but if Inwant to get some Doomsday practice, I will have to do it one day or another.
RE: Chains of Mephistopheles
So basically, for each draw effect (let call it draw effect A), you will first discard a card and then draw for Chains. This draw from Chains will be replaced by the second Chains and so on.
So in short, for each draw from A, you will first discard a card for each Chains in play, and then draw a card. If you don't have enough cards in hand, you will just mill a card.
You can read the rules like this :
If there is X Chains in play, then each draw (except the first of your turn) is replaced by "For each draw, first discard X cards from your hand, then draw (or mill) a card."
RE: My art! (non magic) (really want criticism)
I really love "Coyotes pointe de pieds dans la neige" and "Fête des mères cadeau du jour".
It's such wired and I like that ;)
(en français parce que je ne suis pas certain de le dire correctement en anglais : J'aime beaucoup les deux tableaux nommés, ils sont originaux et j'aime beaucoup ce style "labyrinthe" ;)
RE: What is everyone's profession?
Mechanical Designer Engineer here. I started magic because I bought a shoes box for less than 100$ (years and years ego) with somethings like 8-10 dual lands. From there, I just fall into Legacy, and more recently into Vintage after a very good deal for a Black Lotus, Ancestrall Recall and Mox Saphire. I'm currently acquiring the rest of the power by selling some cards, mainly "Foil staple" that I lucky got from boosters ;)
RE: I lent my Black Lotus to someone 15 years ago...
Thanks for sharing, crazy story ! Your buddy is a good guy ;)
RE: Help: Understanding doomsday
There are few (free and paid) articles by Steve Menendian (@Smmenen) published on Eternalcentral. These articles spoke about Burning Tendrils and are very well written (with decklist, pictures, lots of sample piles, etc),. They might be a bit out-dated (11/2013) but I dont think the Doomsday piles have changed too much since then.
