I was wanting to know if there would be any full proxy vintage tournaments around CT, NY, or MA, thanks in advance.

@shax im assuming you would bring in leyline against dredge as well, do you think helm could have a place in the side against dredge as a way to win quickly as dredge has many ways to deal with a leyline, helm would give a way to win with the leyline out, im not sure if its good enough or even worth the slot for just dredge but just an idea.

phage reanimator would be a great deck imho

both lists look sweet, but why no necro in the black belcher deck?

personally im gonna try it out just for the fun of it, three to four copies plus dragon breath might work, competitive, probably not, fun, hopefully.

the main differences is that i played recoup to flashback time twister as my graveyard shuffle effect, and i played sun titan and vault key and finally i played tinker into sphinx of the steel wind and memory jar

@xxhazardxx if you would like, i used to play oath that was more combo orientated, i could link the deck if you want although if your already comfortable with your deck the way it is now i wouldnt make to many changes till after et.

i could be wrong but i dont think true name would be to good in a control style deck, yes it is an amazing card but it dosnt help with the plan to control the game, but in a fish style deck, it would be amazing, so it really depends on the actual deck your trying to slot it into.

@topical_island didnt think about that lol

@topical_island kinda to go off what you said, the op could put a braingeyeser in the side since the op is playing burning wish for an instant win combo

this may have already been said, i didnt read all the comments, but i think if your mana can support it, abrupt decay would be better, for the most part the hit the same targets that you would want to destroy, with a few exceptions such as lsg or rest in peace, but the uncounterable on abrupt decay is a huge reason to play it over abrade, also looking at the deck it seems like red is a very light splash while green and black are more prominent, so it seems like you are more likely to have mana to cast decay, so imho i would say decay would be the better of the two.

@NBA84 the main thing i worry about with abrade is that they can cat two spells to make it fizzle, but ill try it out, it will help with shops as well

@kistrand i will try the pyroblasts but what ive noticed is that on cockatrice there is a lot of the parodoxical outcome mentor decks so its something new im trying out, but if they dont work out the way i want they will definitely be pyroblasts

@Topical_Island i wanted to try tar pit as a way to help against slower decks, its something im trying out so im not sure if ill keep them in, if not they will be a strip mine and a geier reach sanitarium

personally im not a fan of the meta either, what ive done to get through it is simillar to what @JonHammack said and that is to make a deck you like with a plan against those two decks, i refuse to play mentor and shops, so ive been tinkering with a few pet decks of mine, and just tuning them to the meta game, or just playing something so out there that they dont know what to do, but i would say the best way to get through it is find the deck you most enjoy playing, and learn the deck inside and out, and you can tune it to beat mentor and shops. something else i have done is when there is a deck im trying to beat, playing a few games with the deck to see what others bring in against it and to see what the deck is weak against, i did this for legacy when omnitell was popular, i couldnt figure out how to beat the deck before but then i played it and it helped me understand their deck and how to beat it, so to wrap it up, learn your deck inside and out and tune it, and play their deck a little to learn how it plays and how to beat it, i hope this helps.

@Prospero ive only been playing vintage for around 3, maybe 4, years (all on cockatrice as i dont have the money to play it irl) and in my short time in vintage, i would have to say my favorite time was right after the chalice restriction, before that, to me it felt like either shops or some type of tezzeret deck, this could have been my lack of experience at that point in time so please correct me if im wrong, i played vintage for about six months and went to legacy, to often i would get chaliced for 0 and not be able to do anything for the rest of the game and i stopped because of that, but then chalice got restricted and thats what has brought me back in, and in my opinion that was when vintage was extremly healthy, shops was still a good deck, but it wasnt as taxing as it had been with the chalice restriction, and at the time i was playing a young pyromancer deck and actually beating shops where as before i could never win a game aginst the deck, this could be for many reasons, gaining experience, learning the format beter, so on and so forth, but for me, that was my favorite time in vintage. im not sure if you were looking for responses such as this, and if you werent i do apoligize, as it is i dont like the way vintage is heading, im my opinion it started with the lodestone restriction, when it got restricted i feel like thats when vintage started to go down this path, i could be wrong about this though, im not a seasoned player like much of the other people on this site, this is only my experience so again, please correct me if im wrong.

@gkraigher then why not play squee? i know its not quite as good as dragon with bazaar but from my experience vintage dredge usually only has one bazaar any way, i know its not a dread return target but it would do almost the same thing as dragon.

posted in Vintage Community read more

@gkraigher i understand you said that making zodiac dragon back to its original text would help dredge, how exactly would it help dredge, and also why would it need restricted in vintage and banned in legacy, is there some interaction im not aware of?
