@protoaddict I don't think it provides more as you add more stickers - "for each unique vowel on that sticker". It's an interesting one, but I'm not seeing the application at the moment.

RE: Current Decks for Casual 5-color Vintage (mono-W ideas?)
@schmakt I just don't see how the black deck will ever be competitive with the others given its focus on land destruction and the use of demons as the win conditions. If I was trying to do something casual competitive with black, I'd either go with Storm combo or some sort of aggressive deck with cheap creatures and hand destruction (Thoughtseize, Duress, etc.).

RE: Full Proxy vintage in Chapel Hill, NC July 31st at 12pm
@jaeastep I'm not in the area, but I'm excited to see the event! Best of luck!

RE: [CBC] Green Slime
This doesn't counter mana abilities, right? Because of timing rules?

RE: [SNC] Ledger Shredder
Yes, people are trying it out to varying degrees of success in a bunch of different shells. Here are the published decklists to-date.
Justin (Iamactuallylvl1) has been trying it in almost every one of his recent videos if you want to see some other ideas.

RE: Format Inertia
@marland_moore I'm not even entirely sure I agree with your premise. You can play and be competitive with a wide variety of archetypes in the current metagame. Yes Tinker is the best performing deck, so people will tend to play it more than other decks, but you can certainly have success with any of the following, all of which show up in different numbers week to week:
- Dredge
- Gaak
- Hollowvine
- PO
- Aggro Shops
- UR Murktide
- Bant/4C Archon
- RUG Walkers
- BUG
- Doomsday

RE: Houston, TX | 4/10/2022 | Full Proxy Vintage at Asgard Games
@botvinik It's literally in the title. Houston.

RE: WoTC is bringing back the table top PT.
I'm really excited for this. PTs used to be must watch events for me, and I'm looking forward to watching them again!

RE: StoneBlade
I agree with Marland here. Is Stoneforge --> Kaldra the absolute most powerful thing you can be doing in Vintage? Probably not, but that doesn't eliminate it as a way you can win games in the format. The video Justin posted proves as much.

RE: Looking for old decklist... control circa 2001
@schmakt Luckily you won't need to find your DCI #, they got rid of those...last year I think. Whatever email address you're using for your Arena log-in is basically your new "DCI #".

RE: Looking for old decklist... control circa 2001
@brass-man said in Looking for old decklist... control circa 2001:
The modern free equivalent to those old programs is Cockatrice https://cockatrice.github.io/ . There are a few online communities that still regularly play with that. During the Covid pandemic we saw a rise in people playing online games of Vintage with webcams over video chat software. There are a few Discord communities dedicated to that sort of thing, but I can't recall the links offhand, maybe someone else can chime in and mention them in the thread!
Here is the link to the MTG Paper Vintage Discord, which actually has a webcam event on Sunday at 1PM Eastern!

RE: Looking for old decklist... control circa 2001
@schmakt I think the program you're talking about is Apprentice, though Magic Workstation may have been up and running around that point too. Also, you can still go to archive.themanadrain.com to look up forum posts from the older version of this site. Hopefully you can find your deck or something similar!

RE: Cardboard
@marland_moore Have you tried talking with one of your LGS's to see if they would be interested in hosting monthly proxy Vintage events? If you really want it, you'll probably have to make it happen yourself.
-
RE: Cardboard
@marland_moore Where does it leave us? It very obviously leaves us in a place where there are next to no paper events. I don't see that changing unless individuals make a local effort to get events up and running in their community. You've asked this question a bunch of different ways a bunch of different times, I'm not sure what you're still looking for.

RE: Pimp Swamps
@john-cox The Unhinged John Avon swamps are pretty nice and in that price range.

RE: Best Films of 2019
@botvinik I've really gotta check that one out at some point. Did you see the Peter Jackson documentary, They Shall Not Grow Old? Similar subject matter and I thought it was incredibly well done.

RE: Best Films of 2019
@maxxx17 The ones that stand out to me in retrospect are:
Knives Out - Fun and engaging from beginning to end
Endgame - A fitting end to the years-long buildup
Knock Down the House - An insightful look into what it took for these folks to get elected
Toy Story 4 - Really hit on all of the notes that made the original so great while still feeling new
Far From Home - Agree with Steve's take on this one, a fun subversion of the usual hero/villain dynamic -
RE: [VOW] Lantern of the Lost
@blindtherapy Since when is Relic too slow for this format? It's a 3-4 of in Golos across main and side. I think it's nice to have another option for graveyard hate available.
-
RE: No B&R changes before EW!!
@aaron-patten Legacy players are clamoring for bans of some sort. I'm not close enough to the format to know specifics, but I know there's a lot of chatter about the health of the format.

RE: [VOW] Chandra, Dressed to Kill
@moorebrother1 To be clear, I agree with your conclusion that the card is unlikely to see a lot of play, but I don't think it's because of Ragavan and DRC. I just don't think you can reliably play a 1RR card in basically any deck.
